Do you feel lost when you go to bed?

Hey, thanks for stopping by. How are you feeling today? sleepy? annoyed? bored? clueless?

Well let’s talk about cluelessness.

When you get up every day, do you take a few moments to sit down and think? or do you get up at 8:58am when the class/meeting starts at 9?

How do I know this? because I’ve done it myself. Guilty.

A large portion of what you accomplish in the entire day depends on what you decide when you get up.

But what if you never decide and just let your day direct your tasks?

This way you become a slave to your random thoughts and random tasks.

Do you really want to continue like this or do you want to be more productive?

If you want the former, stop reading and continue with your random tasks. Bye ;)

But if you want the latter, then stay and listen to me.

A clear mind can give your day a head-start.

I’m not a productivity guru. I’m just a victim of random thoughts and clueless days and I’m a super procrastinator. But… I checkmated my brain.

How?

This is what I started doing:

  • I wake up at least half an hour before my day starts officially. If the meeting is at 9, I get up at 8:30. If it’s at 11, I get up at 10:30.
  • As soon as I get up, I prepare myself mentally for yet another day.
  • Then I continue reading a book or check for any important messages. This could be anything for you, a book, news, mails, whatever. But only for 5–10 mins.
  • Sometimes I play a 10-mins chess game. This is my cheap dopamine. ;)
  • Then I finally get out of bed and boot up my laptop. Meanwhile I go and freshen up.
  • Then I still have 5–10 mins before the meeting starts. So I grab something to eat.
  • If there’s no meeting. I get up and do the same stuff. Then I sit down and make a checklist in my note book. Just a list of tasks that comes to mind. I improvise this later during the day.
  • Before sleeping, I acknowledge whatever I was able to do. I don’t judge myself or at least I try not to. This is the best part of my day since I feel happy and content.

I’m following this routine and it’s working wonders for me. I’m now doing twice the amount of work I used to do in a day. It’s not like I came up with this routine one day while I was sitting in the balcony. It took me months to make a routine.

I no longer feel clueless when I go to bed!

I would call this a self-care routine because I’m taking care of myself and saving time for hobbies that make me happy. No longer waiting for others to applaud for me. I’m appreciating myself for what I do.

It’s not like I only study or work 24/7 and burn out myself. I enjoy reading books, articles, watching web series and there’s definitely a game of chess every day, sometimes more. ;)

Why only 30 mins and not get up at 4am?Because I’ve tried it. Few things don’t work for you.

This is why I don’t want to convince you to follow my routine. I want you to create your own instead of following someone else’s. I’m damn sure you can find your routine if you try it for a few days.

I hope your days become less clueless and your weeks more productive!
